What I'm Sewing To
Crystal
In other news I finished my sisters quilt! Its only 21 days late! Woot! Not bad for me really. I'll post pics when it's out of the dryer.
We had a lovely anniversary dinner on Saturday. I made Guinness Beef Stew and Chocolate and Vanilla Guinness Floats, courtesy of The Hungry Mouse and her recipes. I made her Rye bread last Thursday and it was spectacular, so the remains of that went with the stew. The floats were a bit odd for me ( not a huge stout fan) so I don't think we'll repeat those but I'd like to try it with vanilla ice cream and a good summer wheat beer, now that could be good :).

I got some beautiful flowers and... a Card!! My husband ACTUALLY bought me *gasp* a CARD! This is nearly unheard of, hence the dramatization. I also got a new Mp3 player since mine wasn't holding a charge anymore, and he bought himself a holster for his present. He's one of those men that you really can't buy for unless you know everything about guns, knives, ammo, fishing, etc. I'm happy to let him buy his own presents.

I've been slacking on my sewing projects lately so not a lot to tell on that except for that I got my sister's quilt sandwiched and started stitching a bit on it. I'm trying to stitch some of the letters and shapes instead of just boring straight lines. I use the Warm and Natural batting so I don't have to do a whole lot on a small quilt like hers.
My little boy has been a bit sick, doc says it's a sinus infection. He's in the midst of a course of Anti-biotics ( I hate giving my kids medicine like that unless its absolutely necessary). They seem a lot yuckier than when I was a kid. The littlest one has her well baby appt. on Thursday so we'll see how she's growing. She still seems so tiny to me. She's 5 months now and has just now started to outgrow her newborn size clothes. I see a lot of altering of clothing in this momma's future, guess it's a good thing I'm handy with a needle....
p.s. Can you guess where my children get their beautiful blue eyes?
Late Birthday's and Snow
I'm especially proud of the corners of the top. This is the first time I've done mitered corners on the border and they actually turned out pretty good. You can't really see them because they are black but hey, I know they're there.
Speaking of snow, we just got about 6 inches and are due for 1 or 2 more. Not as much as some parts of the country but way too much for my liking. I'm getting more and more ready for spring every day....
New look
Any way, not a whole lot going on here, just need to hem the poodle skirt I made for my mom and it will be done. Got most of the quilt top for my sister done and most of the Fairy dress for my niece done too. Looks like we'll be getting a bit of snow here so I'll be snuggled into some sewing for sure this week.
Our 6 year anniversary is coming up on the 14th. We'll be celebrating the 13th though. I have a special menu planned and we'll be minus one 3 year old for Saturday night. The baby will be in residence but it should still be nice. Speaking of baby, I do believe I hear her screaming for lunch. Toodles!
Aaaagh! I feel like I'm going crazy over here. Spring cannot come quickly enough for me right now. So tired of being cooped up in the house and not being able to wear skirts.
Everything is driving me crazy right now, the house is a wreck, my sewing area is a wreck, the kitchen is a wreck, the laundry is not done.
I woke up thinking (wishing, wanting, Lusting) about the beach this morning. I can just see myself in a bright white tiered skirt with an aqua tank top and gold sandals in one hand and a big floppy sunhat on my head wandering down a white sandy beach....le sigh.
Back in the real world it will be me and my husband's anniversary soon, February 14th to be exact. Six years and two kids later and we're still laughing and having fun.
The fabric I designed and ordered from Spoonflower has been shipped and I'm excited to see how it turned out, I'm keeping my fingers crossed! It was for a birthday gift for one of my sisters. I'm not likely to make a February 4th deadline on it but I don't think she'll mind.
I'll post some pictures of it once I get started on it.
